The Redmi 15 5G is the latest addition to the company’s budget-oriented number family. It is expected to go on sale in India on August 28. Pricing is set at INR 14,999 for the 6+128GB version, INR 15,999 for the 8+128GB version, and INR 16,999 for the 8+256GB version. We already have a unit in for review and hence can spill most of the details.

The new development here is that Xiaomi is launching the Redmi 15 5G as the Redmi 15R in China. Since we are looking at a straight rebrand, the specs are the same. You are looking at a 6.9-inch, FHD+ LCD with a 144Hz refresh rate and display bezels on the bigger side of things. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset and will come with the company’s HyperOS 2 installed. Xiaomi promises two years of OS updates and four years of security updates.

Xiaomi put a large 7,000 mAh battery on board with 33W charging (and a charger in the box in most regions), plus 18W reverse wired charging capabilities. Xiaomi claims this is the only silicon-carbon battery in the segment and that it retains 80% of its life even after 4+ years of use.

Other features include a 50MP camera at the back, IP64 ingress protection, and Dolby-certified audio. We will have more for you on the feature and specs front in the full review.

In the meantime, here is the pricing for the Chinese Redmi 15R: 8GB/256GB for CNY 1,499 (~$210), 12GB/256GB for CNY 1,899 (~$265), and 12GB/512GB for CNY 2,199 (~$305). Pretty affordable overall.
