Xiaomi normally launches two flagship devices each fall in China, and then one of them (the ‘vanilla’ one) gets its global release in February when the Ultra is also introduced.
Things will change this year, as Xiaomi is rumored to actually introduce three flagship devices in the fall, not just two. But the third one isn’t the 16 Ultra – that’s still coming later. Instead, we’re getting the 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, with the first two sharing a smaller screen size presumably while the Pro gets higher-end specs. The trio has now been certified for sale in China, and this process has revealed their charging spec.
Xiaomi 15
All three handsets will support 100W wired charging, which is up from 90W in the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro from last year. It’s definitely not the hugest increase, but it is something. According to rumors, all three will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, which is getting unveiled in late September.
Speaking of which, Xiaomi is believed to be the first brand to announce new devices powered by this chip, and that may happen mere days after Qualcomm’s event, in very late September. As for a global launch, it’s most likely still happening next year, but it’s unclear how many of these three handsets will be officially offered outside of China.
