MediaTek’s newly-announced Helio G200 will make its debut soon – the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ will be the first phone to use the new chip. The chipsets for the other Spark 40 series members have not been confirmed yet.

Tecno is promising a 10% performance improvement over the G100, getting 470,000 points on AnTuTu. The new chip boosts the clock speed of the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU to 1.1GHz (up from 1.0GHz on the G99 and G100). Additionally, the Spark 40 Pro+ will have customized super resolution algorithms that will render graphics at 1.5K. The G100 was used in phones like the Spark 30 Pro and Camon 40 Pro 4G, by the way.

Tecno also does a better job at explaining what 4G DC SAR does than MediaTek itself – it stands for Dynamic Communication Smart Adaptive Response. What it does is improve network efficiency in areas with weak signal, which should result in higher data speeds for streaming, gaming and other uses.

The Helio G200 also adds 12-bit DCG support for the camera, which will improve the quality of HDR videos. However, Tecno is keeping mum on the Spark 40 camera features for now.

“The Spark 40 Series will not just be raising specs. With the Helio G200 as its engine, the Spark 40 Series redefines what’s possible in its class, offering an unprecedented experience for its users — all while delivering signature slim design,” said Joey Qu, Tecno senior product manager.

Tecno will unveil the Spark 40 series globally in July – more details about the design, performance and Tecno AI features will be revealed soon.
