Samsung is billing Micro RGB as the next big thing for TVs, saying it delivers “exceptional color accuracy with sub-100-micrometer LEDs”. Samsung’s first product using this tech is a 115″ display that you can see below.
It uses Samsung’s proprietary Micro RGB technology, which arranges individually controlled red, green, and blue micro RGB LEDs in an ultra-fine pattern behind the panel. This architecture “enables precision control over each red, green, and blue RGB LED”, Samsung says.
Everything is of course powered by an AI engine, which analyzes each frame in real time and optimizes color output. Micro RGB Color Booster Pro recognizes scenes with dull color tones and “enhances” the colors across all content “for a more vivid and immersive viewing experience”. There’s also “a smarter Bixby” built-in, powered by generative AI, and the display is secured by Knox.
Thanks to Micro RGB Precision Color, the display achieves 100% coverage of BT.2020, and Glare Free technology minimizes reflections even in bright lighting conditions. Samsung promises seven years of updates for the Tizen OS. The Micro RGB display is first launching in Korea, then will make it to the US later. There are also plans for a global rollout “featuring a variety of sizes to meet customer needs”.
