Yesterday we heard that Samsung might be revamping its flagship naming next year, with the ‘vanilla’ Galaxy S26 model not launching, replaced instead with a Galaxy S26 Pro (on top of the rumors claiming the S26 Edge would replace the S26+).
Today, the Galaxy S26 Pro replacing the S26 theory has picked up even more steam, as a device with the name Galaxy S26 Pro has been caught in the GSM Association’s IMEI database. It has the model number SM-S942U1, and SM-S942 has so far been associated with the Galaxy S26.
Only now it seems that will be no more, as Samsung has in the meantime changed its mind about the name (there’s also an IMEI entry under the Galaxy S26 name for a similar model number, but that’s older).
What remains the biggest mystery is whether this Galaxy S26 Pro will be just an S26 under a different name, or if it will get some spec upgrades to warrant that Pro name. There have also been mumblings about a price hike compared to the Galaxy S25, which wouldn’t surprise us. We’ll let you know when we find out more.
