It’s official – One UI 8 will debut with the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE. However, the first open beta is now available today for owners of a Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, if they live in the US, the UK, Germany or South Korea.

Samsung says that its close collaboration with Google means that One UI 8 will be one of the first platforms to adopt Android 16. Samsung’s new foldables are coming “this summer” (they are expected in July, but there is no official date yet) and will expand to older Galaxy devices (starting with the S25 series, judging by the beta).

One UI 8 will build on the AI features introduced with the S25 series. Galaxy AI features are a mix of on-device and cloud processing, but One UI 8 will offer a setting to limit your data to only on-device processing.

The AI will be multimodal, i.e. it can understand more than text and use what you are looking at or what you are watching at the moment and as context to tailor its response. The new Now Bar and New Brief features will become even more personalized.

Thankfully, One UI 8 is not all about AI. It will turn your phone into an Auracast broadcaster – this is a Bluetooth audio technology that works with compatible headphones without pairing. This way, you and several of your friends can listen to the same audio stream without hassle.

The Quick Share app will smooth out the experience of sending and receiving files – just tap Quick Share in the Quick Settings and you are ready to swap files with people nearby.

The Reminder app is built for travel. It can manage your checklists and schedules and supports voice input for easy additions. These checklists can be shared with the people you are traveling with.

Samsung has been working on making the experience of repairing and servicing Galaxy devices less stressful. With One UI 8, you will be able to walk into a service center and use a QR code or NFC to sign in – skipping the hassle of filling in registration forms. All relevant data will be stored in your Samsung Account.
