This is the Moto G Stylus (2025) and it has the stylus-equipped midrange market in the US all to its own.
The phone ships with a USB-C cable and a SIM eject tool. Ours is the Pantone Gibraltar sea version and there’s a Pantone Surf the Web (yes, that’s the color’s name), which is a similar blueish color shade.
We like this Gibraltar sea unit; it has a unique sort of petrol blue hue. Both colorways have vegan leather finish, which is grippier and more interesting than plain plastic or glass.
The sides of the phone are matte and quite slippery though – this clumsy typist managed to drop the phone (after a few misguided pirouettes between both hands) from around 50cm and can happily attest that there’s no damage anywhere on it.
Perhaps that’s the MIL-STD-810H credentials at play!
As the name suggests, the Moto G Stylus (2025) has a built-in pen. Just like its predecessor (and a certain Galaxy S model). The phone brings up the stylus menu once you take the pen out of its holster.
Whether people want a stylus these days could be argued. What can’t be argued with is that Motorola occupies a niche of its own with this one – you’d need to step up seriously to get another device to match the pen feature.
The stylus
Upfront is a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED with a little over 1080p resolution. The screen is punchy, bright, and a pleasure to view and use.
Motorola has mostly kept the cameras intact – you get a 50MP main shooter (though it’s a Sony Lytia LYT-700C instead of the ISOCELL (S5K)GN9 imager), and a 13MP ultrawide with macro abilities. Upfront is a 32MP selfie.
