Alongside its new Mate XTs and MatePad Mini, Huawei also introduced its latest TWS earbuds – the FreeBuds 7i. These arrive as the successor to last year’s FreeBuds 6i and bring some key upgrades and a few design tweaks.
The charging case is now round instead of the oval shape on its predecessor. The buds employ the same basic stem design and in-ear silicone tips. Huawei is now offering an extra XS size for the ear tip alongside the regular size S, M, and L options.
FreeBuds 7i feature 11mm quad-magnet dynamic drivers with improved sound tuning, which Huawei claims is more naturally balanced. The buds pair over Bluetooth 5.4 and feature Hi-Res Audio certification. They also support a 10-band equalizer for sound tuning, multi-point panning, and 360-degree spatial audio. In terms of audio codec support, you get SBC, AAC, L2HC 2.0, and LDAC.
FreeBuds 7i also bring an updated active noise cancellation (ANC) system with Huawei’s Intelligent Dynamic ANC 4.0. It features a new algorithm with a faster 0.5-second response time and up to 28dB average noise reduction.
FreeBuds 7i feature 55.5 mAh batteries in each earbud and a 510mAh cell inside the charging case. These numbers are identical to their predecessors and mean the buds will last for up to 8 hours on a single charge with ANC off and 5 hours with ANC on. Total battery life is rated at 35 hours of media playback with ANC off.
Huawei FreeBuds 7i come in Black, Pink and White colors. Pricing in China is set at CNY 599 ($84).
