Here’s the chipset powering the Nothing Phone (3)

Nothing is continuing its ongoing teaser campaign for the Phone (3), billed by the brand as its first-ever true flagship smartphone. It’s going to be fully unveiled on July 1 in London alongside the Nothing Headphone (1).

Today, Nothing has finally revealed one of the most important pieces of the Phone (3) puzzle: the chipset it’s using. And it’s the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.

So it’s not the Snapdragon 8 Elite, nor MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400/9400+, which are currently the top dogs in the Android SoC industry. But its performance is still not far behind, and the choice of the 8s Gen 4 will, we assume, ensure a lower total bill of materials for the device that is rumored to be priced at $800. It will also still be the highest-performing chipset Nothing has ever used, that’s undeniable.

The device is expected to give up on the Glyph LED lights on the rear, instead replacing them with a dot-matrix display which will be much more customizable (if recent rumors are accurate). Since even the mid-range Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro come with triple rear cameras (main, ultrawide, telephoto), we expect the Phone (3) to have a similar setup, but of course with better sensors.
