Google Pixel 10 Pro review

Introduction

There haven’t been a whole lot of groundbreaking hardware changes in iPhones, Galaxies, and Pixels in the last couple of iterations, and the newly released Pixel 10 generation doesn’t do a ton to shift that trend. The vanilla Pixel 10 may have brought some new cameras (much to our lukewarm reception), but the Pixel 10 Pro we have here? What does that one bring?

Well, just like all the other 10s, it’s got a new chipset that has an even stronger focus on on-device AI. There’s a bit more battery on board too, a tiny bit more. The display is now even brighter (wasn’t it bright enough already?). The Android OS on board is even nicer (but that’s surely coming to the older Pixels too).

Perhaps easiest to spot is the upgraded wireless charging, the full-spec Qi2 setup having magnets for attaching things to the Pixel (and the Pixel to things). Nowhere is a change to the telephoto camera as evident as it is, a change so deeply buried that we almost missed it.

Google Pixel 10 Pro unboxing

The Pixel 10 Pro arrives in a compact cardboard box inside a sleeve that matches the colorway of the phone inside. There are no real accessories inside other than a USB-C cable – it’s still something.

Compact packaging and limiting the amount of peripherals that would end up in a landfill is commendable and all, though one can’t help but wonder if the savings aren’t dwarfed by some of the company’s other ventures. Regardless, we’re here for the phone itself.
