Xiaomi officially announced HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16 for its phones and gave a list of devices that are eligible for beta testing. It’s important to note that the announcement was for the Chinese market, so some features may vary, and the release dates will likely be different as well.
The new HyperOS 3.0 brings a slight visual revamp with new icons, a new status bar and the addition of Super Island. Additionally, 3.0 also offers AI capability improvements and under-the-hood tweaks for enhanced performance.
The Super Island feature is much like the Dynamic Island on iOS. It appears to provide you with contextual information about real-time app activities, appointments, bookings, media playback controls, and more. The only difference is that the Super Island on HyperOS remains active in the notification panel.
The new OS also gets fresh new icons that are more simplistic and with a similar iOS styling. Xiaomi is also giving you an adjustable home grid and revamped status bar.
Xiaomi showcased a new, redesigned dialer app, but this might refer only to the Chinese market as the Chinese version of the ROM uses a native Phone app, while the Global and European ROMs use Google’s Phone app.
Just like Oppo and OnePlus, Xiaomi is giving you a way to connect with iPhones, iPads and Macs and seamlessly transfer data.
Xiaomi shared a list of devices eligible for the HyperOS 3.0 Beta program, along with release dates. The stable HyperOS 3.0 version is expected to arrive sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.
